Abstract

ROSAT, an international X-ray observatory, suffered several sensor anomalies during its 5 year mission. With only 2 gyros left new attitude control strategies had to be implemented. This paper describes the changes in the onboard algorithms, the problems encountered during operations and the actual scientific performance of the spacecraft.
