Abstract

The synthesis and preparation of aerogels and xerogels loaded with micrometer-sized ferroelectric particles of BaTiO3 and KNbO3 is described. We show that these composite aerogels and xerogels exhibit nonlinear optical properties, especially second-harmonic generation at an incident wavelength of 1064 nm.
