Abstract

The design of the P-band subsystem of DLR’s E-SAR system is presented in this paper. With a new microstrip patch antenna and other key hardware components a bandwidth of more than 28% at a lower centre frequency is achieved. The system parameters correspond to a range resolution better than 2.1m. Measurements of system gain, cross polarisation suppression, system sensitivity and some antenna parameters are shown.
