Ti:Sapphire (TISA) lasers are suitable for remote sensing applications in the near-infrared wavelength range (0.7 - 1.0 µm). For water vapor concentration measurements at altitudes of the troposphere and lower stratosphere absorption lines at wavelengths of 935 nm and 942 nm are interesting for investigations. By an analysis of the spectral bandwidth of the absorption lines it was estimated that the frequency bandwidth of the laser should be below 200 MHz. To meet these requirements the TISA laser must be spectrally prepared. Using injection-seeding techniques a spectrally narrow band operation of pulsed TISA lasers can be obtained.
