Abstract

Design rules for composite components are an effective method for design engineers to realize a design with an optimal weight. They help identify the decisive parameters and point out the physical correlations. The process of setting up and verifying design rules for the components of a CFRP outer wing are explained in this report by taking bolted joints and stability for ribs and spars as an example. Analytical calculation methods and a comparison with experiments in particular are addressed here.
