Heat transport processes have been an ongoing interest at the DLR Institute of Space Propulsion. The main goal of the experimental work presented was to investigate thermal processes and especially the effect of thermal stratification in liquid rocket engine cooling channels. Different cooling channels with varying aspect ratios (heigh-to-width-ratio) have been studied at conditions concerning cooling fluid and heat flux representative for high pressure LOX/H2-combustors. The aticle presents a description of the test hardware and measurement system that were designed, manufactured and implemented for the investigations.
