Abstract

An overview of recent work on thermal as well as thermo-mechanical behaviour of CFRP primary structures for large aircraft at the DLR Institute of Structural Mechanics is given. It comprises the experimental procedure to obtain the co-efficient of convection as a function of air flow velocity, the numerical procedures to analyse the transient temperatures in a CFRP wing box structure, and deals with investigation about the influence of thermal load on buckling of wing box panels.
