Abstract

An extensive test campaign was performed in DLR’s arc-heated facility L3K on a generic nosecap model. This model was specially designed to show influence of thermo-mechanical fluid-structure interaction when exposed to a high enthalpy flow. Tests were run at two flow conditions and different angles of attack. Due to orthotropic material properties the stagnation point heating caused a deformation, which could be measured by a displacement sensor. But also the aerodynamic pressure makes a substantial contribution to the fluid-structure interaction, which must not be neglected. The results of all temperature, pressure and displacement measurements will be gathered to build up an experimental database for the validation of coupled numerical simulations of thermo-mechanical fluid-structure interactions.
