A sub-scale laser welded channel wall nozzle has been designed and manufactured by Volvo Aero Corp., Trollhättan. Eight hot gas tests at the P8 test facility in Lampoldshausen were performed during December 1998 - January 1999. The nozzle test objectives were met. A hydrogen coolant pressure level of 200 bar at a combustion chamber pressure level of 100 bar was reached. The major objectives of the test campaign was reached; the qualification of DLR's model D combustor, the simultaneous regulation of the combustion chamber and the nozzle extension via two supply lines and the qualification of VAC's welded channel wall nozzle.
