The CEVCATS-N code has been calibrated for chemically reacting hypersonic carbon dioxide flows, which are of interest for modelling the aerothermal environment around a spacecraft entering the Martian atmosphere. Carbon dioxide flows under these conditions are characterised by the earlier onset of chemical dissociation compared to similar flows in air. Calibration was obtained by computing the forebody flowfield for a blunted cone aeroshell and comparing solutions with previously published results using a similar flow solver. Agreement was found to be good, and variations in the results could be attributed to differences in the modelling techniques between the two solvers.
