Abstract

This document describes the arc heated facility LBK with its two test legs L2K and L3K and its application for re-entry programmes. First the facility is presented with a detailed description of the key components. Intrusive and non-intrusive measurement techniques for the determination of pressure, surface temperature, heat flux rate as well as gas parameters are described in the second chapter. The performance of both, L2K and L3K, facilities is discussed with respect to their reservoir conditions and model surface parameters. Finally some examples of the use of both facilities in the frame of TETRA-Programme are presented
