This paper deals with local grid adaptation in an unstructured method and its capability of increasing the accuracy of the predictions. The paper briefly presents an extension of the standard h-refinement cases that reduces the number of inserted grid points needed for the conservation of the grid-conformity, which is of importance especially for large scale grids. With the DLR-TAU code and the use of fast grid generators for the hybrid grid technique it is possible to obtain CFD-results in only days after starting from CAD-data. This has been achieved for the complete aircraft configuration DLR-F6 of which the inviscid and turbulent results are presented and compared with experimental and structured grid results
