Abstract

A standard PIV experiment can be performed with a double pulse laser system and a single camera. Utilising multiple pulse illumination as well as multi-camera recording, the PIV system becomes more versatile and facilitates more demanding PIV experiments like stereoscopic or dual-plane measurements. The DLR's digital PIV system consists of a quadruple pulse laser system and a set of up to four CCD cameras. These components can be combined in many different ways and adapted to ingenious experiments in fluids. The beam combination of the four laser oscillators, different camera arrangements as well as an exemplary application in an industrial wind tunnel are presented
