Abstract

Fully expanding free jets and plumes are produced in the high vacuum facility STG, which is equipped with liquid helium-driven cryopumps. Molecule number flux measurements have been performed in the expanding flows with test gases N2 and H2 to investigate the influence of the stagnation conditions on the expansion behaviour. Common features of free jets and plumes as well as characteristic differences were elaborated.
