Abstract

This paper presents the numerical simulation and the analysis of viscous high-lift flows around a complex wing/body configuration (DLR ALVAST) with deployed high-lift devices. The solution of the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations (RANS) is carried out using the unstructured DLR TAU-code. The results of the computation are compared to measurements. The investigations aim at a better understanding of the aerodynamics at the wing root and the lift breakdown.
