The general aerodynamic phenomena playing a role in propulsion airframe integration will be outlined. For the simulation of such phenomena, experimental as well as numerical methods are used. The main aerodynamic effects caused by the installation of engine nacelles will be discussed for the DLR F6 configuration, an Airbus type generic windtunnel model. With respect to this model, the principal effects of a variation of the nacelle position and the consequences on lift and drag are shown. Following the outline of installation effects, the influence of jet interference on the flowfield around a generic regional transport aircraft will be discussed. Furthermore, a variation of the pylon shape is performed to improve local flow behaviour with respect to separation.
