Abstract

The stability of three-dimensional boundary layers is considered using a local, linear stability method. There are different strategies available to compute the cross-flow- and Tollmien-Schlichting instabilities. Five S1Ma wind tunnel test cases of the ELFIN II HLF wing model are used to evaluate the differences in the N-factor curves applying four strategies for the cross-flow instability as well as for the Tollmien-Schlichting instability. In supplement the effects of heat transfer on the N-curves are evaluated.
