Abstract

Time-accurate 3D Euler solutions of DLR, ONERA and the University of Stuttgart are compared on common grids for a non-lifting 2-bladed and a lifting 3-bladed rotor in forward flight. For the lifting forward flight the wake and the downwash of the other blades are accounted for by an angle of attack correction. The computational results are compared with each other and with experimental data. The agreement of the inviscid computational results with the experimental data is good. A grid refinement was conducted for the lifting forward flight case. The computations agree well for the advancing blade but for the retreating blade with high angles of attack the three methods differ significantly. The grid refinement reduces but cannot eliminate these differences. The cpu-times for all computations are given.
