The present paper deals with experimental investigation of the research program Wirbelschleppen I. A generic model DLR-F13 with adjustable horizontal tail planes was employed to generate 4-vortex wake systems. Measurements were carried out in the water towing tanks WSG at DLR, and in a larger water towing tank in Hamburg (HSVA) for validation. Results of PIV measurement and flow visualisation revealed that, for several HTP settings, the established 4-vortex wake systems exhibited the potential of a relatively fast decay in the far-field.
