Abstract

The formulation of the Navier-Stoekes equations for mean quantities is possible without Reynolds-averaging. This is achieved by focusing on a turbulent force density vector instead of the Reynolds-stress-tensor. For example in plane turbulent channel flow the scaling of the turbulent force density under varying Reynolds-number is demonstrated.
