Dispersed two-phase flows will be considered. Compressibility effects can be caused by both, the compressibility of the carrier fluid and of the dispersed phase. In particular, the subject of the contributions to the minisymposium are droplet laden flows (compressible carrier fluid) and flows of bubbly liquids (compressible dispersed phase). Characteristic properties of such flows that are important for many industrial processes, will be discussed both from a fundamental viewpoint and with an eye slanted towards practical applications. This includes wave-phenomena, mechanical non-equilibrium and the occurrence of critical flow conditions limiting the maximum flux. Thermodynamic aspects such as phase transitions and thermal non-equilibrium between the phases will also be addressed.
