Abstract
Behavior generation of complex system models typically relies on numerical simulation, which inevitably discretizes and quantizes the system's generated behavior, i.e., continuous time is replaced with discrete time and the continuous signal is approximated by a limited resolution representation of the signal. The latter is limited by the machine accuracy because the simulation is performed with, e.g., the pre-defined accuracy of 64-bit floating point numbers, whereas the simulation algorithm used mainly determines the former by choosing a step size depending on the gradients of the equations.
