Kurzfassung
Since the discovery of 51 Pegasi b more than 100 extrasolar planets orbiting sun-like stars have been discovered - some of them in very close proximity to their host star. Therefor close-in extrasolar planets are subject to extreme tidal interactions with their host star which may affect their orbital stability. Even the star itself may be influenced by tidal effects such that there is a change in stellar rotation - even mire so when consider that tidal dissipation only acts upon the stellar convection envelope. We shall demonstrate tidal interaction using OGLE-TR-56 b as an example.
